About webhosting

Every teacher must have their own website. Don’t ask your students to access your personal FaceBook page with your family and friends’ photos. Don’t ask your students to go to ‘that’ website with sleazy ads. Instead, step-up your professionalism and have a space especially to support your career. HelloSpace.Me is the best and first webhosting platform especially for educators. Currently, we are still in the opening stages of establishing this community; however, there are already big benefits to joining, and more on the way.

Why HelloSpace.Me? There are many reasons including: super easy, quick, affordable, secure, and protected. Perfect for busy teachers like us.

Why should every teacher have their own website? In short, you can manage, edit, collate relevant and important information, and provide multimedia resources to support your classes, which has many time saving benefits. Your website also acts as an online teaching portfolio, like a 21st Century résumé that can help you land your next job.

It’s like a textbook

What should you put onto your website? We strongly recommend installing a WordPress blog because with the auto-install option the hard work is taken care of for you. WordPress (WP) already powers about 30% of the worlds websites, so it’s well supported with a myriad of third-party plugins, super stable, and has frequent security updates. There’s even a WordPress smartphone app to add or edit content when you’re on the go. There’s also a huge wealth of WP information to support you too. With WP you can easily make static pages that can host textbook-like information to support your lessons, or do ‘posts’ for time relevant info. WP is easy to access, easy to update, and easy to tweak your lesson contents, saving you time and effort in lesson preparation. Add videos, animations, and pictures to make your  content really pop. Provide time relevant info for your classes, parents, and even share your favourite lesson ideas with colleagues. It’s so good that HelloSpace.Me also uses WordPress.

Other software categories include: surveys, social networking, project management, and file submission and cloud, and many others are available in your very own free to access website app store. Social Responsibility

We are teachers too, so we get it. We know what it’s like to be responsible for so many students in our care. Being a 21st Century teacher has different responsibilities to the past. Especially regarding online privacy and protection of ourselves and our students. We need to ensure that all student data and information is adequately protected. Consequently, we have our servers hosted in Switzerland because their gold-standard laws, as well as their history and tradition of respecting and safeguarding privacy. Data and personal information are guaranteed under Swiss Federal Data Protection Act (DPA) and the Federal Data Protection Ordinance (DPO). Secondly, ensuring your own data, including your login information, is protected during transmission, we strongly urge you to invest in SSL certificates available in our online store. Thirdly but not lastly, we do not spy on our members and their students. We grant dignity and respect to all our members, and help and encourage responsible online literacy, security, and citizenship. Despite recent changes in US laws, we will never sell yours, or your students’ personal information (Ars Technica, March 2017).

Our ethos begins with these two articles written by the founder Andrew, which is the bedrock of our commitment to our members.
